📋 Before You Apply

Make sure you have everything ready before starting your application.

Check if you need a visa
Some nationalities qualify for visa-free entry for up to 15 days.
Valid passport (6+ months remaining)
Your passport must be valid for at least 6 months beyond your planned departure date from China.
Passport photo (48×33mm)
Recent photo with white background, no hat or sunglasses. Digital copy needed for online form.
Flight itinerary
Round-trip or onward flight booking confirmation.
Hotel bookings
Confirmed hotel reservations for your entire stay in China.
Bank statement / Proof of funds
Some embassies require proof of sufficient funds for your trip.
Travel insurance (recommended)
Not always required, but highly recommended for international travel.

💻 Online Application

Fill out the COVA form online before your appointment.

Complete the China Online Visa Application form at the official COVA website.
Upload digital passport photo
Photo must meet specific requirements. Use the photo checker tool on the COVA site.
Review all information carefully
Double-check names, dates, passport number. Mistakes can cause delays or rejection.
Print the confirmation page
You'll need to bring the printed confirmation with barcode to your appointment.
Book appointment at visa center
Schedule an appointment at your nearest China Visa Application Service Center or embassy.

What to bring and expect at your visa appointment.

Arrive 15 minutes early
Bring your appointment confirmation and all required documents.
Submit application form
Staff will verify your documents and collect your application.
Biometrics (fingerprints)
Most applicants need to have fingerprints taken. Keep your fingers clean and dry.
Pay visa fee
Fees vary by nationality and visa type. Credit/debit cards usually accepted.
Get collection receipt
Keep the receipt safe — you'll need it to collect your passport.

After your appointment, wait for processing and collect your visa.

Track application status
Use the tracking number on your receipt to check status online.
Wait for processing
Standard: 4 working days. Express: 2-3 days. Urgent: same day (additional fees).
Collect passport
Bring your receipt and ID. Some centers offer postal delivery for an extra fee.
Verify visa details
Check your name, passport number, visa type, validity dates, and number of entries.
